Inaugural Race kicks off the Rocky Mountain Endurance Series.
Race #1. Kick off the mountain bike racing season in Colorado by bringing the family out this spring to enjoy the Southern Colorado terrain. Views of the Greenhorn and Wet mountains to the southwest and Pikes Peak to the north make it a splendid place to spend the weekend. The Arkansas River Valley amid 200 year old juniper pines and rolling mesa is the backdrop for the scenic loop around the lake.
Saturday April 23, 2011. Race start 9:00 am. No license required. Tents for support crews can be set up along the course at the feed zone. Team vehicles can park in the Expo parking lot at Cottonwood Shelter Race Start and Staging Area. All other race parking will be at Swim Beach. Races will begin at the bottom of South Marina Road at Cottonwood Shelter.
This long rolling loop encircles the eastern bluffs of Lake Pueblo and features singletrack through sage and high desert hills. RME competitors will complete two loops, while Junior RME and Half-Marathon competitors will complete one. The finish area will be at the South Shore Marina, across from the camping area. This makes for a perfect venue to spend the weekend, camp at the finish and enjoy a hot shower after the race.
